Day 11: Be Well
Overall wellness is the primary focus of this 12-day series, and today we specifically highlight your medical health. In the early hours of tomorrow morning, we will “fall back” and technically gain one hour in the day. Although not quite the solution to the there-just-aren’t-enough-hours-in-the-day dilemma, this time change is a symbolic “extra hour” to focus on your health.
Rather than wait until the New Year or let yourself fall to the bottom of the list, take an hour this weekend. Gather the phone numbers you need, take a close look at the calendar, review your daily schedules, and plan appointments for your annual physical, dental cleanings, specialist visits, and any necessary medical procedures.
In addition to preparing to make appointments first-thing on Monday morning, be proactive in preparing for the appointments themselves:
- List symptoms you have been experiencing recently or over a period of time.
- Prepare questions and concerns particular to your health.
- Consider preventative screenings for vitamin, mineral, and hormone deficiencies, which might contribute to a range of symptoms, including lack of energy. {Check out the Mayo Clinic for information on Vitamin D, iron, Vitamin B12, thyroid hormone, and more.}
- Begin to journal about any dietary sensitivities and potential allergies.
You must make your health and wellness a priority. Only then can you be the best for yourself and those you care for every day. Share and make sure your friends do the same. Leave a Comment to let us know how you spent your extra hour!
